[October 26, 2026] VRChat Trending Snapshot — This Week's Fastest-Rising on Booth

Every week, this "Trending Snapshot" captures the newest Booth releases pulling in likes the fastest, ranked by how quickly those likes pile up. When something climbs this fast, there's always a reason behind it — and reading that reason from both the work itself and the way it was released is what this weekly report is for. It's written for creators, to send you home with a hint for your next project.

The October 26, 2026 issue (measured October 26) is led by an original avatar with upright cat ears and a white hoodie. Its page collected 6,994 likes in two days — all of them before anyone could actually buy it.

🔎 About this article This is a quick digest of the new releases a lot of people are watching right now. It lists items released on Booth within the last three months with 300+ likes, ordered by how fast those likes accumulate (likes ÷ days since release; measured 2026-10-26). Rankings shift a lot depending on when VRCFinder collects data, so treat them as a rough guide. Like counts, giveaways, and sales are all snapshots from the measurement date — use this as a window onto what's new and talked-about.

This Week's Top 10

This is a momentum ranking — likes at the measurement date divided by days since release. It isn't ordered by total likes, so something published only days ago can sit near the top.

#1: Salt / Amatousagi

6,994 likes two days after the page went up. An original avatar with gray hair, upright cat ears and an oversized white hoodie. It's the newest from Amatousagi, the shop behind the popular avatar Chocolat, and at the measurement date its purchase option still showed as outside the sales period.

The bangs fall over one eye, and a hairpin shaped like a fish skeleton sits in the hair. The hoodie has blue drawstrings and a paw-print patch, the legs wear gray tights and white sneakers, and a long, thin cat tail trails behind. There are 800 shape keys for facial expressions.

The reason the likes came before the sales is the body. Salt is built on the same base body as Plum, Chocolat, Chiffon and Lime, and the product page says compatibility with the outfits made for that body is kept as-is. There's even a sample shot of Salt wearing a recolored Chiffon outfit. The day you bring Salt home, the outfits you already own are ready to wear — that's what makes it so appealing.

On top of that, the knee shape when bending has been refined, and two new body shape keys were added: "Chest_flat" for a flat chest and "Hip_narrow" for slimmer hips. The included Mochifitter profile lets your existing outfits follow those shapes too. It's △67,935, with a regular price of ¥6,000. Sales start at 00:00 on November 1, at an announced launch price of ¥5,000 through the 9th.

#2: Devil Wings / 387 Realm

5,377 likes four days in. An accessory that's just a pair of devil wings, bat-like, with softly glowing edges — and at the measurement date it was being given away free for a limited time, through 23:59 on October 31.

The wings stretch a membrane between their bones, and light bleeds along the edges and the bones. There are eight colors: red, pink, purple, yellow, green, light blue, blue and white. A flapping animation is built in, and you can change its speed from the menu.

Modular Avatar and PhysBone come set up — drop the Prefab directly under your avatar and the wings sit on your back, with size and position adjusted through Scale and coordinates. Because they aren't tied to any particular outfit, adding them to the back of something you already own turns it into a devil costume. Having that available free in Halloween week is exactly what carried it up the ranking. The wings are △7,824.

#3: WICCA / CØDEMOON

6,225 likes five days in. A witch set pairing a big pointed hat with a staff topped by a jack-o'-lantern.

The hat brim is layered with frills. Up top is a short crop top with bat ornaments; below is a skirt with a torn hem and spiderweb embroidery. One leg is wrapped in bandages, the other laced with ribbon, and the feet wear platform sandals. The pumpkin on the staff has glowing eyes and mouth, with bat wings spreading on either side.

The strength here is that the witch — the first costume most people picture for Halloween — comes complete from hat to staff in one package. With a staff in hand, your hands have something to do in photos, and poses come together easily. There are five colorways: orange, purple, beige, red and gray.

Support covers Airi, Milltina, Shinano, Lumina, Manuka, Mayo and 15 avatars in all. At the measurement date it was marked 50% off, at ¥1,150 for the full package and ¥600 single.

#4: La-Marquise / velvetsky

5,002 likes four days in. A classical gothic set with a monocle, a small hat crowned with white roses, and a frilled parasol. It's the newest from velvetsky, the creator behind the popular outfit Noir_Luxe.

A short black pinstripe jacket has big puffed sleeves, over a white frilled blouse tied with a large black bow. A corset with studs and chains cinches the waist, over a tiered frill skirt, with rose-patterned stockings, a garter, and high heels set with cameos.

The parasol comes with two dedicated poses: carried closed like a walking stick, or held open overhead. Because the creator has already settled how the hand holds it, the outfit makes a finished picture the moment you put it on. There are 13 colorways, including white, black, navy, green, wine, light blue and pink, and the parasol comes in 12 colors.

Support covers Shinano, Milltina, Airi, Shinra, Manuka, Kaguya and 22 avatars in all. List price is ¥3,600 for the full pack and ¥1,800 single; at the measurement date a launch special had them at ¥980 and ¥880.

#5: ASTREA / Ene Collection

3,310 likes three days after the page went up. A techwear set built around a big jacket, worn with IV bags, syringes and a name tag. It's the newest from Ene Collection, the creator behind the popular outfit Sailor Maiden — and like #1, every purchase option showed as outside the sales period at the measurement date.

The jacket, worn slipping off the shoulders, is split black and white, with an IV tube running along the sleeve. Underneath is a black halter mini dress with a white tie. IV bags hang at the arm and the waist, a holster with two syringes wraps the thigh, a bandage sits on the leg, and goggles rest on the head. Platform boots finish it off.

Hospital props like IV bags and bandages, gathered under a jacket full of belts and buckles, give it a look no other outfit this week has. There are 20 colorways, including white, black, red, blue, pink and light blue.

Support covers Shinano, Milltina, Mayo, Airi, Kumaly, Lumina and 24 avatars in all. The product page sets the sales start at 17:00 on October 27, with a first-day price through 23:59 on the 28th of ¥1,990 for the full set and ¥990 single, against a list price of ¥3,500 and ¥1,600.

#6: UNSEAL ME / BITE

9,405 likes ten days in. The mummy costume wrapped head to toe in bandages, talismans, chains and a padlock, covered in detail as #1 in the October 19 issue. In its second week, with Halloween right ahead, it's still at #6. The regular price from November 1 is ¥1,000 for the full pack and ¥600 single; at the measurement date it was in a Halloween sale through October 31.

#7: Tights Tailor / MocoMocoSoda by Lyrica

2,529 likes three days in. A Unity tool that builds tights, socks and gloves from your avatar's own base-body mesh.

When tights are added afterward as a separate garment, the body tends to poke through when the legs bend, or the fit slips when you move body shape keys. Tights Tailor builds the tights from the shape of the base body, so they move with the body even when the knees and hips bend, and they keep fitting when you change the chest, hips or leg thickness. They're generated at upload time, and your original avatar isn't touched.

There are seven styles — pantyhose, thigh-highs, knee-highs, high socks, socks, leggings and spats — plus gloves in five lengths. Sheerness runs in seven steps from 10D to 110D, with five fabrics such as nylon and velour in 46 colors, and you can add glitter or stripes. Shoes and harnesses from your outfits layer right on top. Tights rarely come with outfits, and this lets you add them to anything you own — getting to decide what happens on your legs is the real pleasure of this tool.

Setup is just right-clicking your avatar to add it and picking a preset. The creator has tested 13 avatars, including Airi, Shinano, Milltina and Milfy, and for any humanoid base body with legs it can estimate from the shape. The list price is ¥980; at the measurement date a sale through October 31 had it at ¥500.

#8: ShatteredVow / CYCR

2,774 likes three days in. A ghost-bride set: a sheer dress with a torn hem, a flower crown and a long veil. It's the newest from CYCR, the creator behind the popular outfit Midnight Fox 2.0.

The white dress layers thin fabric from the chest to the hem, torn and hanging loose in places. There's a choker at the neck, white cloth wound around the arms and legs, and the veil comes in short and long versions. In hand is a bouquet of blue roses and lilies held by a skeletal hand, and blue will-o'-the-wisps float nearby.

Putting a bride's white and the eeriness of bones and wisps into one outfit makes it work both as a costume and as a dress. There are seven colorways in all: four that pair white with blue, purple, pink or red, and three that pair black with red, gold or blue. Milltina, Lumina, Milfy and Shinano also get a body material that makes the legs look translucent.

Support covers Misaki, Ramune, Shinano, Milltina, Manuka, Mayo and 19 avatars in all, and there's a preview world for checking it inside VRChat. List price is ¥2,900 for the full pack and ¥1,600 single; at the measurement date a sale through November 7 had them at ¥2,030 and ¥1,120. The same page also lists a "Free Gift" that stays free for good.

#9: DisRoza / PetiDoll

2,248 likes two days in. A nun's habit paired with a maid headdress, carrying a skull lamp decorated with roses. It's the newest from PetiDoll, the creator behind the popular outfit LooseGamer.

The black dress carries a large cross on the chest, with white frills at the cuffs and hem and gloves on the hands. The lamp is shaped like a skull tied with a ribbon, and from the menu you can switch the light on and off, adjust brightness, toggle particles, show or hide the roses and ribbon, and swap hands. The gimmick is by Nanonano and the particles by shun1205.

One light in hand is all it takes to turn the habit into a nighttime look. There are 22 colorways, and the lamp changes color with each — including an orange colorway and a pale, ghostly one.

Support covers Manuka, Airi, Shinra, Shinano, Kaguya, Milltina and 15 avatars in all. List price is ¥4,200 for the full pack and ¥1,700 single; at the measurement date a three-day sale through October 27 had them at ¥1,980 and ¥990.

#10: Shock Bunny / TiramisU

7,506 likes ten days in. The bunny set of stitched ears and coat with a defibrillator, covered in detail as #2 in the October 19 issue. Together with UNSEAL ME at #6, last issue's #1 and #2 both stayed in the Top 10. List price is ¥2,690 for the full package and ¥1,190 single; at the measurement date it was in an opening sale through October 31.

Category Picks (#11–#30)

The Top 10 held seven outfits plus one each of avatar, accessory and tool. The seven carry-overs from #11 to #30 (With Phone at #13, Bandage Meh-Meh Angel at #19, Yumeka at #20, KASANE at #21, Akira at #24, Nocturne Wisp at #27 and Ohimesama! at #29) were covered in earlier issues, so this section picks only from the new arrivals. The only new avatar and accessory were #1 and #2 in the Top 10.

Outfits

Fifteen of the thirty are outfits, seven of them in the Top 10. From the five new arrivals below #10, here are three Halloween looks.

A bunny-ghost set that went up at a ¥200 event price for a single.

ParfaIt's "Melo" is at #15 (1,793 likes three days in). A white hooded top with bunny ears and a ghost face, carrying a pumpkin basket.

The wide-sleeved top melts into a color gradient at the cuffs and hem, with a ribbon at the collar and small bat wings on the back. From the menu, you can have a bunny ghost hover in place or circle around you, at an adjustable height. The basket and wings each toggle on and off, and the flapping speed can be changed. There are nine colorways, and support covers 20 avatars such as Manuka, Chiffon, Shinano, Airi, Milltina and Kumaly. List price is ¥2,490 for the full pack and ¥990 single; at the measurement date a "200 JPY Event Sale" through October 31 had them at ¥450 and ¥200, with a half-price sale announced to follow through November 7.

There was also an outfit that made its wings and pet free on their own.

EYECECREAM's "Vampy Maiden" is at #22 (1,583 likes three days in). A vampire maid dress that comes with bat wings and a tiny bat pet that flutters along.

Puffed long sleeves and a corset go under a white apron, with ribbons lined along a tiered frill hem. The bat-ear-like headpiece can be stretched into bunny ears. There are 23 colorway Prefabs, and in Unity you can also recolor the dress, ribbons and gems separately. The wings and pet are being given away as a ¥0 standalone option through October 31, and the same items are included in the full set and singles. Support includes Shinano, Kikyo, Manuka, Chocolat, Milltina and Yumeka — so it also fits Yumeka, the free avatar that's become a regular in this ranking. List price is ¥2,500 for the full set and ¥1,200 single; at the measurement date a launch sale through November 9 had them at ¥1,300 and ¥950.

A raincoat that sprouts tentacles from a small avatar's back.

Dejirumi Asahigaoka's "Terrifying Cthulhu Hoodie" is at #30 (1,386 likes four days in). A yellow hooded raincoat with tentacles reaching out from the back, modeled on a god from the Cthulhu Mythos.

The long, bright-yellow raincoat has white drawstrings, and glossy tentacles that shift from brown at the base to green at the tips spread from the back, the hem and the cuffs. A black ribbon ties the hair. Pairing a cute rain jacket with otherworldly tentacles makes for a slightly creepy costume that keeps the small body intact. Support covers Mamefriends' Mamehinata and Kipfel, the outfit design is by Nounemu, it comes in yellow only, and the price is ¥500.

Hairstyles

Four of the thirty are hairstyles, all of them at #11 or below. Ohimesama! at #29 was covered as #9 last issue, so here are two of the three new arrivals.

A hairstyle that lets you choose whether the ponytail sits center, left or right.

Li-ne_Shop's "Ribbon Ponytail Hair" is at #11 (3,700 likes five days in). A high ponytail paired with a big ribbon and fox ears.

Two hairpins with paw prints and a thin ribbon held between the lips are included too. The ponytail can sit center, right or left, and the menu switches between two bang styles and shows or hides the ribbon and pins. There are 30 colors, plus streaked and gradient versions. Support covers 18 avatars such as Airi, Shinano, Chocolat, Manuka, Milltina and Nagi, and the list price is ¥1,000; at the measurement date a launch sale through October 28 had it at ¥690.

There was also long hair topped with a kerchief shaped like cat ears.

Chocolate rice's "Soft Kitty Hood Long Hair" is at #16 (3,181 likes six days in). Wavy long hair that falls past the waist, paired with a kerchief hood shaped like cat ears.

The hood ties with a ribbon under the chin and comes in patterns like white lace, black, cream florals and green arabesque, with options for one folded ear and for lace or frill trim. Face decorations that draw cat whiskers and a nose are included too. The hair's part, volume and length all adjust with shape keys, and there are 26 hair colors. Support covers 14 avatars such as Airi, Chocolat, Eku, Kaguya, Kumaly and Misaki. The list price is ¥1,200; at the measurement date it was ¥590, with the schedule posted ahead of time: ¥790 from October 28, and back to list price from November 4.

Textures

One of the thirty is a texture.

A material that turns hair and clothes alike into gemstone.

Meta Space's "Gem Material Set of 7" is at #23 (1,598 likes three days in). A lilToon material that gives hair, outfits and accessories a gem-like clarity and sparkle.

It covers seven gems — diamond, crystal, aquamarine, amethyst, ruby, sapphire and emerald — each in a transparent and an opaque version. The opaque version means you can use it on hair and clothing you don't want to see through. You just drag and drop the material, and the sample shots turn Rurune into gemstone from hair to clothes, wings and tail. The list price is ¥600; at the measurement date a launch sale through October 26 had it at ¥300.

Gimmicks & Tools

Six of the thirty are gimmicks and tools. Tights Tailor at #7 is covered in the Top 10, and With Phone at #13 was covered as #3 last issue. Here are three of the four new arrivals.

A gimmick that lets your fingertips follow the shape of the head you're patting.

StripeJunction's "Nadekan Plus" is at #12 (2,223 likes three days in). A free avatar gimmick that changes how your fingers bend to match the surface when you touch someone's head or cheek.

When you pat someone's head in VRChat, your fingers tend to look like they're sinking through their hair or face. Nadekan Plus bends and straightens the look of your fingers to match where the surface is, bringing it closer to a palm gently resting on a head. The other person doesn't need to install anything — you just place one Prefab on your own avatar. There are three hand shapes ("normal," "fox" and "patting"), a mode that drives the hand from your grip input, and your own hands and cuffs are excluded so they don't trigger it. It's for PC VRChat; the free version has every feature, and a ¥500 support version with identical contents adds 13 menu icons.

A whole bar counter you set up in a world made the list too.

Serif's "Serif Mixology" is at #14 (1,812 likes two days in). A bar gimmick you place in a VRChat world to mix and serve cocktails.

It ships with more than 170 recipes and more than 50 ingredients, so you can place it, upload, and open for business right away. A tablet on the counter walks you through each step, and even mixing on a whim without a recipe still produces a drink. If you want the real thing, you can build, stir and shake by hand, and stir layered ingredients together bit by bit with a muddler.

It's carefully built for events, too: take a glass and the next one appears, wash used glasses in the sink to clear them, and a button collects every glass at once. You can make your own bottles and cocktails, and a menu tablet for guests is included. It's PC-only, and the mixing controls are designed for VR. List price is ¥4,900 for Full Suite and ¥3,900 for Standard; at the measurement date a launch sale through October 29 had them at ¥3,900 and ¥2,900. Full Suite adds bottles you can pick up and pour.

A shader that adds only shading while keeping the lilToon look.

Nagi Shop's "lilMCR" is at #25 (2,175 likes five days in). A free extension shader that adds shading in gaps and overlaps, plus short contact shadows, to lilToon avatars.

Anime-style avatars can look flat in some worlds, with clothing overlaps and joints blending together. lilMCR adds the darkening that happens where nearby surfaces block light (ambient occlusion) and a contact shadow that drops a short shadow in a direction you choose, giving creases and layered clothing a sense of depth. The contact shadow isn't affected by the world's lighting. There's also a soft cast shadow and a mode that throws your shadow onto floors and walls; the menu adjusts brightness and color temperature, and switching it off stops the calculations to lighten the load. Setup is dragging your avatar in and pressing the convert button, and you can revert to the original materials. It's for PC VRChat only.

Twenty-one of the thirty are new this issue, and eight of the nine carry-overs come from last issue's Top 10 (Milk Short Hair at #6 and Satin×Lace Ribbon at #10 dropped out of the thirty). From last issue's #11–#30, only Yumeka held on.

Yumeka has gone from #2 in the September 21 issue to #5, #6, #10, #12 and #20 — six issues running inside the thirty. Kirameki, inside the thirty for five issues through last week, dropped out this time.

Styles: gothic on 9 of the 30

Top 10 Taste Tags

Which taste/aesthetic tags appeared most in this theme.

In the style tally for the thirty, gothic leads with 9, followed by dark at 6, sexy and fantasy at 4, and girly, cool and horror at 3.

Five of the nine gothic items are in the Top 10: the devil wings at #2, the witch at #3, La-Marquise at #4, the ghost bride at #8 and DisRoza at #9. Below #10 come KASANE at #21, Vampy Maiden at #22, the follower pet Komonya at #26 and Onyx Hair at #28. Where last issue's leaders shared costume motifs like bandages and ghosts, this issue's weight has shifted to looks built from black, frills, crosses and roses. La-Marquise at #4 is classical gothic that never mentions Halloween — an outfit you can wear in any season.

Keywords: free on 6, bats on 3

Top 20 Keywords

Frequency of VRCFinder's own keyword tags — useful for spotting trending tastes and features.

The keyword tally is led by free, on 6, followed by frills at 5, PSD included and color change at 4, and bat, puff sleeves, hood and hair model at 3 each.

The three bat items are Melo at #15, Vampy Maiden at #22 and Komonya at #26, and all of them are built around a small creature that comes along with you. Melo sends a bunny ghost flying around you, Vampy Maiden brings a bat pet, and Komonya is itself a follower pet — a cat with bat wings. ShatteredVow at #8 has blue wisps floating nearby too. In Halloween week, outfits that put something else moving beside you gathered in one place.

Avatar support: Shinano at 19, and all seven Top 10 outfits fit Chocolat

Top 10 Supported Models

Distribution of supported avatar models.

The most-supported avatar was Shinano, at 19. Since the September 14 issue it has gone 23, 21, 20, 20, 20, 19 and 19 — sole first place seven issues running. Next come four avatars at 18 (Eku, Chocolat, Milltina and Milfy), then Manuka, Rurune and Airi at 17, and Mayo and Kaguya at 16. Chocolat rose from 13 last issue to 18.

All seven outfits in the Top 10 support Chocolat. Their purchase options often bundle Chocolat, Chiffon, Lime and Plum into a single option — on the outfit side, the four avatars sharing that base body are treated as one body type. Salt at #1 is the fifth avatar on that body, which means the Top 10 outfits are ready-made wardrobe candidates from its very first day on sale.

Prices: median ¥990, nothing in the ¥2,000s

Price Distribution

Price bucket distribution for products in this theme during the period.

The ¥1,000–1,999 band leads with 12, followed by ¥500–999 at 8 and free at 7, with one each in ¥1–499, ¥3,000–4,999 and ¥5,000+, and none at all in ¥2,000–2,999. The median is ¥990, down from ¥1,090 last issue. The one item at ¥5,000+ is Salt at #1.

The seven free items are Devil Wings at #2, Nadekan Plus at #12, With Phone at #13, Yumeka at #20, Akira at #24, lilMCR at #25 and Komonya at #26. Devil Wings is a limited-time giveaway through October 31, and Vampy Maiden at #22 has made just its wings and pet free until the same date. All prices and sales here are as of the measurement date, and many are time-limited.

A creator's view of how things were released

The trending ranking is where "how it was brought to market" shows up most clearly, alongside the appeal of the work itself. Here are four reproducible approaches from this issue's Top 30.

Points for creators:

  1. Post the page, the date and the price before sales begin — Salt at #1 opened its page on October 24 and laid out the dates and prices up front: sales from 00:00 on November 1, a launch price of ¥5,000 through the 9th, and the regular ¥6,000 from the 10th. ASTREA at #5 also opened its page on October 23 and announced a 17:00 sales start on the 27th, with a first-day-only price through the 28th. The "open the page first" pattern I've been tracking since the August 24 issue reached #1 this time. Likes collected while an item can't be bought also work as a bookmark for coming back on launch day.
  2. Share a base body, so people can bring their wardrobe along — Salt at #1 is built on the same base body as Plum, Chocolat, Chiffon and Lime, and its page even shows it in a Chiffon outfit. It adds new body shape keys while using a Mochifitter profile so existing outfits can follow those shapes. In a week when all seven Top 10 outfits support Chocolat, this is offering a new avatar together with a shelf of outfits that already exists.
  3. Make an included item a ¥0 standalone option — Vampy Maiden at #22 is giving away the wings and pet that come with the outfit as a ¥0 standalone option through October 31, noting that the same items are in the full set and singles. ShatteredVow at #8 also put a permanently free "Free Gift" on the same page. The approach CYCR has kept up since the scimitar in the August 31 issue — placing a piece of the main item right beside it — is now being picked up by other shops too. You can try just the wings or just the pet before choosing the main item, which makes it easy to reach for.
  4. Give people a place inside VRChat to try it before buying — Serif Mixology at #14 asks you to try its demo world first because it does so much, and has a bar already set up there. ShatteredVow at #8 lists a preview world on its product page for checking the dress. Tights Tailor at #7 gathers the sample shots that don't fit on Booth onto a dedicated site. It's preparation that lets people actually touch the movement and textures that images alone can't get across.

Wrap-up

Even with Halloween less than a week away, the dates this issue's new arrivals are posting point to November. Salt at #1 goes on sale November 1 and holds its launch price through the 9th, ShatteredVow at #8 keeps its sale running through November 7, and Vampy Maiden at #22 through November 9. What ends on October 31 is the entry price: the Devil Wings giveaway at #2, Vampy Maiden's wings and pet, Melo's ¥200 at #15. Halloween as the way in, and wearing it well beyond — that's how I'd read the last week of costume season.

A bouquet held by a skeletal hand and a parasol you can carry closed aren't props for one night on October 31. Letting people pick something up in time for the holiday, while building the outfit so it keeps being worn long after — the two items that opened their pages early included, the likes that piled up within days of release reflect creators who prepared for the ordinary days beyond the event itself.

About the Data

  • Measurement date: 2026-10-26
  • Scope: items published on Booth between 2026-07-26 and 2026-10-26 (2,540 items)
  • Ranking basis: likes ÷ days since release (releases under three days old count as three), in descending order. This is momentum, not cumulative likes, and uses the same calculation as the site's trending page
  • What "N days" means: age is calculated from VRCFinder's data collection point (the measurement date), not from what the Booth page displays. For items whose product page went up before sales began, age counts from when the page went up
  • Rankings are a rough guide: this tally moves a lot with collection timing. It isn't a contest — read it as a way to find the new releases people are watching
  • Listing condition: VRCFinder's database only collects items with 300 or more likes, so anything under that at the measurement date isn't in this tally
  • Prices in the text are the regular list prices confirmed in Booth's purchase options. Items on sale are noted as "on sale at the measurement date." Where no list price is given, only the price at the measurement date is shown
  • Note: the figures and rankings here are a snapshot from the measurement date and don't reflect later changes. "Released" refers to when the Booth product page went up
  • Giveaway terms, prices and sales are as of the measurement date. Time-limited giveaways and sales may have ended by the time you read this. Check the Booth product page for current information
