Here are the ten accessories published on Booth in May 2026 that gathered the most likes, looked at together with the data. What stood out this month is how many of the top spots went to things a character carries rather than things they simply wear.

First place went to a set of leopard ears and a tail that plays five different animations depending on your hand shape (3,793 likes). Let's start there and work down the list.

#1: MofuLeopard / #POTATOTO

A set of leopard ears and a tail. Five patterns are included: snow leopard, leopard and black leopard, plus pink and blue variants built on the snow leopard base. It took the outright top spot among May 2026 accessories with 3,793 likes.

Animal ears and tails usually just sway on their own once you put them on. This set goes a step further and maps five animations to left-hand gestures. A calm resting pose, a happy wag, even the tail curling into the mouth — each comes out of a different hand shape. From the Expression menu you can move the trigger to your right hand, or switch gesture control off entirely and play a single animation on its own, which is handy when you want to freeze a specific pose for a photo.

The whole set is a light 4,378 tris (ears 3,212 / tail 1,166), with three shape keys for ear shaping, five for piercings, and three more for the tail. Switching to the fur material from the menu gives the pelt a raised, fluffy texture. Positioning is fitted to Kipfel, and the leopard-print hair texture used in the thumbnail is thrown in as a bonus. ¥400.

#2: Download Halo / たまごんのおみせ

A halo where coloured jelly blocks hang in a row from a thin ring above the head, translucent cubes in green, blue, pink and amber. Its name is "Download Halo," and it gives shape to the idea of a head slowly filling up with data. Second place with 3,150 likes, ¥300.

The clever part is that it never sits still. The block colours are assigned at random and stream in one after another from the sides and from above, so the sense of fragments dropping in and piling up plays continuously overhead — it reads far more as "downloading" in motion than it ever does as a still image. The Expression menu lets you toggle visibility and stop the animation, which is enough control to freeze it for a photo.

Setup is Modular Avatar based: drop the prefab under your avatar and adjust the position, then scale the prefab itself to resize. The detached jelly is drawn as particles. For under ¥500, both the idea and the mechanics are properly worked out.

#3: IV Med kit / APEXから逃げた

A clear pouch holding an IV drip bag, two vials on a key ring, and an injector sized to sit in one hand. Three pieces of sci-fi medical gear in a single set, taking third place with 3,120 likes.

The pouch hangs from a strap across the chest, with fluorescent green fluid, fine printed labels and even a QR code worked into the texture. The vials dangle from a black cord at the hip, and the injector tucks between the fingers. Just carrying an IV pouch and an injector reads instantly as a character who has come through something dangerous — so for an avatar built around sci-fi, survival or combat roleplay, this set reinforces that backstory with a single prop.

The pouch carries several shape keys so it can be fitted to different body proportions. On top of that, shape keys for opening the pack and for injecting are included, so if you build your own animation you can stage the moment of use as well. The package ships as an FBX, a UnityPackage and UV textures, and the page is explicit that it assumes some avatar-editing experience. ¥800. It launched as a free release with a deadline of June 1, then switched over to paid.

#4: Hanya Inu Ear & Tail Accessory Set / るなちゃーじ Luna Charge

Floppy dog ears, a big tail, a name-lettered hairpin, and a small dog to hold in the mouth. Bandages and plasters are worked into the soft shapes, giving you a whole "spoil me" look in one package. Fourth place with 2,950 likes, ¥700.

Two gimmicks carry this set. First, when someone else pats your head, the tail reacts and wags. Second, VRC Raycast is built in, so the tail keeps checking for floors and walls instead of sinking into them. Long tails tend to sink through the ground the moment you sit down or lean back, and this set tackles that from the start.

Colours run from natural beige through grey, black, pastel mint and a dalmatian pattern, and a colour mask plus a PSD are included. It works on any avatar, with pre-positioned prefabs for six models — Milphy, Eku, Chocolat, Kipfel, Shinano and Lurune. The set totals 9,387 tris on a single material, and the ear piercings and star can be switched off with shape keys.

#5: MP3 Player AR-20K / ARCA-WORKS

A portable music player with a clear shell, an OLED display and wired earphones. A new release from ARCA-WORKS — the creator behind the popular †Lost Bind† Body Piercings (All Avatars) accessory. Fifth place with 2,879 likes, ¥800.

The product page opens with specs — "256MB flash memory", "about 8 hours of continuous playback" — before admitting that it is, of course, an accessory with no actual playback function. What does the work is the modelling: the display scrolls a track title, and the inside of the clear shell pulses with a glow animation. It also supports AudioLink, so in compatible worlds the lighting reacts to whatever music is playing.

There are two styles — Type-A clipped at the hip and Type-B hung from the neck — each in White, Polygon and Aurora finishes with blue and pink variants. The earphones hook over the ear, and the cable sways naturally as you move. The body's "kisekae panel" texture can be swapped for your own artwork, with a Clip Studio file included. It fits any avatar, and free add-on packs cover Kipfel and Mamehinata plus black-edition and circuit-board finishes.

#6: Nukumori Blanket / omake's factory

A quilted lap blanket for avatars. The creator built it because they wanted a natural way to stop underwear showing while sitting and talking. Sixth place with 2,712 likes, ¥700.

When you sit on the floor or a chair in VRChat, skirts can't fully follow the body, and certain poses lift the hem. This blanket is modelled specifically for a seated pose, so simply draping it over your knees solves the problem. PhysBone is already configured, so the fabric falls softly along the legs, and turning on leg collision from the menu lets you nudge the blanket with your feet. A ground-detection toggle decides whether the hem spreads along the floor or hangs straight down.

Patterns cover plain, stripe, check, print and floral, plus stripes themed on specific avatars — more than 60 in total . The curled-up cat that comes with it has ten colours of its own. Blanket and cat together come to 7,730 tris on one material with roughly 5MB of texture memory. It uses 79 parameters, so four days after release the creator added a light prefab at 42 and an ultra-light one at 7.

#7: Garden Babushka / Mizukishop

A lace babushka — the triangular scarf worn wrapped over the head. Leaves and small flowers are embroidered along the sheer edge, and a thin ribbon ties under the chin. Seventh place with 2,499 likes, and a free release made to mark 1,000 shop followers.

Headwear is easily thrown off by head shape and hairstyle, floating in some places and clipping in others. This one comes with shape keys split into six blocks — top, front, back, side, neck and ribbon — so the fit and spread can be dialled in precisely. Three days after release, a shape key for twintails was added and the ribbon's bones and weights were adjusted.

Patterns switch between five gingham colours — pink, blue, yellow, beige and grey — and four lace edgings. At 2,340 tris it is very light, and it uses lilToon. It carries the kind of quiet elegance that suits a garden or a walk, and it is a remarkably careful piece of work for an anniversary giveaway.

#8: Star crown & halo / ねりもの屋さん

A halo ringed with four-pointed stars, paired with a small crown. The metallic material catches the light, shading from near-black into silver — solemn and slightly dangerous at once. Eighth place with 2,492 likes, and a free release.

The star halo spreads wide behind the head while the crown perches on top. Worn together they read as a monarch wrapped in a ring of light, and the arrangement stays clean from behind too. Rather than adding decoration, this one raises where the character stands.

Setup needs Modular Avatar and lilToon; from there you place the prefab inside the head bone and adjust position and rotation. The package contains an FBX and a prefab with materials already assigned. Alongside the free version there is a ¥490 supporter version with identical contents, so anyone who likes it can give something back afterwards.

#9: HABAKIRI / 人外学園購買部

A sword billed as a "tactical melee unit": a carbon blade with a glowing line running its length, and a grip built like industrial machinery, complete with trigger. Draw it and a red ring opens at the base of the hilt, spinning a set of glyphs. Ninth place with 2,074 likes.

The blade itself is close to a slim straight sword, but the sheath, grip and cabling are all detailed enough to reward a close look. The glow line appears in yellow, green, cyan and red across the sample renders, so you can match it to a character's palette.

It sells in three configurations: the standard version with gimmicks and effects at ¥1,400, a Model Only version at ¥1,100, and a supporter version above those. The gimmick setup follows an included manual that also covers troubleshooting. るいx2 and Juinamza contributed to the gimmick work. The page also asks buyers to be mindful of context when using a sword asset, which says a lot about how the creator approaches this kind of piece.

#10: Basic_Glove / Myoru_Atelier

Plain gloves in black and white, with no decoration at all. The cuff is cut on a diagonal and the finger seams are carefully modelled. Tenth place with 1,944 likes, and a free release.

How it came about explains what it is. The creator kept thinking "these would have worked better with gloves" every time they made an outfit, but building a new pair each time was too much work. So they made one basic pair up front, as a general-purpose part. Black and white were chosen as the base so the gloves would sit well with other shops' outfits too, and a shop-specific material set is bundled alongside.

It covers nine avatars — Iyori, Komano, Nakiya, Noshime, Hanka, Baku, Nehail, Suzuya and Andrew (+Head) — a lineup weighted toward masculine and androgynous bases. Bones and weights are adjusted per avatar, so the silhouette differs slightly on each. The gloves come to 4,224 tris with 28 materials (one per set). Updates have continued since release with Suzuya support, new colours and texture optimisation, and more materials are promised as future outfits arrive.

The median price stays at ¥300, flat against April, while median likes rose to 652 from 539 in March and 577 in April. The ceiling stays low, but items are being picked up more. The defining feature of May, though, is that half the Top 10 are things a character carries rather than things they wear — an IV medical kit, a music player, a lap blanket, a sword and gloves all placed high.

Supported models: Shinano stays first, Lurune and Eku climb

The supported-model tally runs Shinano 26 / Milltina 20 / Lurune 15 / Manuka 14 / Lumina 13 / Kipfel 12 / Milphy 12 / Chocolat 11 / Eku 9 / Shinra 8. Shinano holds outright first place for a second month with Milltina behind it, unchanged from April. What is new is that Lurune climbs to third on 15 and Eku enters the top ten — and in the ranking itself, #4 Hanya Inu bases its pre-positioned prefabs on Milphy and Eku.

That said, because accessories attach to small areas, most creators skip a support list entirely and rely on position adjustment. This piece is a good example.

Duskram Horns by mollow & co. are black horns modelled on a demon-and-ram motif, with thin chains and rings looped around ridged shafts. A prefab is aligned to Shinano's head, but a little repositioning puts them on almost any avatar. ¥400, and the shop released a matching halo accessory at the same time.

Accessory types: halos lead for a fifth month, back up to 18

The type tally reads halo 18 / hair ornament 10 / hairpin 9 / heart motif 8 / nails 7 / glasses 7 / ribbon 7 / ring 7 / tail 6 / choker 6. Halos take the top type slot for a fifth consecutive month, and after sliding from 20 in January to 15, 17 and 13, the count is back up to 18.

The contents keep shifting too. April's report noted halos moving from a plain ring toward carrying a world of their own; in May that goes further, and the ring above the head has become a surface for displaying something. #2 Download Halo shows a progress bar, and the next piece puts an entire room up there.

Chill World Halo by ふゆいろビジョン-FuyuiroVision- hangs a ceiling fan, a bare bulb, a potted plant, a shelf of books and a photo stand from a single ring — a whole room as a halo, made to mark 1,000 shop followers. It includes a toggle to stop the fan, and the paid version lets you switch the light on and adjust its throw. It totals 13,220 tris and fits any avatar. Putting a place to chill above your head is about as bold a reading of "halo" as this category has produced.

The free side is playing with function too.

Drone Halo by あややねさんのおみせ pairs a semicircular ring of light behind the head with a waveform that extends left and right in response to your voice. The design leans on FPV drones for its near-future look, and the effect makes speech visible at a glance. It was given away free as a shop promotion.

Taste: Cool retakes first place, barely ahead of Cute

The taste tally is Cool 24 / Cute 23 / Girly 17 / Yume Kawaii 16 / Fantastical 16 / Dark 11 / Refined 11 / Simple 10 / Animal Motif 9 / Elegant 8. Cute led April on 26, but in May Cool retakes first place by a single item. Add Cute, Girly and Yume Kawaii together and the sweet side is still the larger block, sitting in balance with the harder-edged cluster.

On the Cool side, this piece caught my eye.

BLVK Bracelet by BLVK stacks black beaded strands, a metal bangle and chains around the wrist. Layering several of them adds detail to an otherwise monochrome outfit. うー handled the modelling, and at 26,636 tris it is a dense build. It expects you to adjust position and blend shapes freely in Unity. ¥500, and it is slated for inclusion in the shop's full set, so it arrives as part of a series.

Price: median holds at ¥300, 96% under ¥1,000

The distribution is free 34 / ¥1–499 41 / ¥500–999 33 / ¥1,000–1,999 3 / ¥3,000–4,999 1. 108 of 112 items sit under ¥1,000, about 96%, leaving just four above that line. Free releases account for 34 items (about 30%), close to April's 31%, and the median price matches April at ¥300.

The thickest band is ¥1–499 with 41 items, and this is its representative.

CreamerMaid. by Lolinkle is a two-piece set of a frilled lace headdress and a choker. It began as a 3D bonus distributed at a doujin event, and you can pick either cat ears or bunny ears to combine with it. Every part has its own bone assigned, so the fit can be adjusted finely on any avatar. A layered PSD for recolouring is included. ¥450.

May 2026 was the month the category stretched from "things you wear" toward "things a character carries". An IV medical kit, a music player scrolling a track title, a blanket for your knees, a sword that opens a ring when drawn — none of these started from a body part to decorate. Each one says something about the world its owner lives in. Even the ring above the head was being used as a surface, holding a progress bar or a whole room.

The other thing that stays with me is how much thought went into living with these pieces. A tail that refuses to sink into the floor, a blanket that settles naturally as your legs move — the awkward parts of large cloth and long swaying objects were handled up front. That this much work sits inside a category with a ¥300 median says a great deal about its depth. Creators marking follower milestones with a gift, creators opening up the general-purpose part they built for their own outfits — May's ranking is what that accumulation looks like.
