[August 2025] VRChat Accessory Trends & Ranking | Booth Trend Analysis

An accessory is the easy way to change an avatar — add a single piece and you can shift not just the impression but how you play. Among the August 2025 releases on Booth that drew the most likes, the standouts were a goodnight eye mask that darkens your own view and hides nearby name tags when you grab and pull it down, a halo shaped like a music-player UI with a progress bar and controls floating overhead, and — taking the sole top spot — a ¥0 tulle ribbon. Here are the 10 picks from a month where half of the Top 10 were free, one at a time, with the craft worth noting.

📊 About the data Compiled: 2026-06-22 / Scope: accessories published on Booth between 2025-08-01 and 2025-08-31 with 300+ likes (211 items)

Top 10 Accessories

Ranked by like count as of the compile date (June 2026), here's one pick at a time with the details worth noting.

#1: TwinkleTulleRibbon / なっふな堂

A big bow built from layered tulle, ringed with pearls around a center jewel, with dangling chains, ribbons, and a teardrop pearl hanging beneath — a hair accessory that shines on Lolita and classical looks. It took the sole top spot among August 2025 accessories (6,259 likes), and it did so at ¥0. The body comes in 16 color variations — white reads with pink accents, black with white — so it swings from sweet Lolita to a grown-up monochrome. It sways with PhysBone and ships set up for Modular Avatar and lilToon.

What's interesting about this ribbon is how it was released. なっふな堂 put it out for free as a thank-you for "7/27 — Naffunado Day." A hair accessory shared with no price tag, timed to a moment of gratitude, ended up at the very top of August's accessories — and as we'll see, August was a month where free items piled up in the upper ranks, with this #1 as its symbol.

#2: ✧StarChain✧ / ✧StellaCloset✧

Chain piercings where star and crescent-moon charms spill down along the line of the ear. Thin chains hang from an ear cuff, adding a fantastical sparkle to the profile. #2 (5,404 likes). It's ¥500 for Single, ¥1,300 for the Full pack that includes every avatar.

The strength here is how thoroughly it's fitted: 27 avatars' worth of prefabs — Manuka, Shinano, Milltina, Lumina, Baku and more — each adjusted in size and position to match the shape of the ear. Ears differ a lot between avatars, so a set tuned individually like this sits right the moment you put it on. And the creator states plainly that "even if more avatars are added later, the Full Pack price won't change," so you keep getting the benefit of new support without extra cost after you buy.

#3: ThreeStarPierce / -Precious-

A silver piercing that links three gentle stars, combined with an ear cuff and chain for a three-dimensional ear. It doesn't over-decorate — it glints quietly in the light and pairs with anything — and it landed at #3 (4,598 likes) as a free asset.

If #2 is the dressed-up star piercing with stars and crescents, this is the minimal version pared down to three stars — the same "star piercing" idea, pointed in the opposite direction. Inside is a Unity Package (FBX / Prefab / PNG) with 12 avatars' worth of adjusted prefabs — Kikyo, Shinano, Manuka, Shinra, Maricia and more — and it works on others once you align the position. It's light at △8,560, shader is lilToon. Star-motif piercings sitting at #2 and #3 was one of the ear highlights of August.

#4: Grabbable Goodnight Eye Mask / らずべりー工房

A black eye mask with a goofy "ω" face drawn on it — cute and genuinely practical. #4 (4,481 likes), ¥500–¥600. Its big selling point is the gimmick that turns on night mode when you grab and pull it down.

Normally in VRChat, even when you act out "closing your eyes to rest," your own view stays bright. This mask carries a night-mode shader: grab it and slide it down and your own view darkens, and you can even hide nearby name tags. You can set it to pitch black or to no effect, so it works as-is for sleepy photo shoots, or for when you want to flip your view off and settle down in a busy world. Setup is just placing the prefab and aligning three positions, and colors swap quickly thanks to lilToon's per-part split.

#5: Tactical Belt kit / Tactical&Coordination

A tactical belt kit worn around the waist, like special-forces gear. #5 (4,247 likes), ¥0. The belt itself is the lead, and the rig comes with a pile of gear running from waist to leg — a holster, magazine pouches, a dump pouch, a knife, handcuffs, a leg rig, tactical gloves, and more.

The maker, Giulietta, writes that "the belt is the main piece, and everything else is a bonus I made for my own use," and notes that each part is high-poly and quite heavy — a model meant for photos and Unity screenshots. Loading out fully adds a lot of data, so it's aimed at anyone who wants to shoot one densely built military or airsoft frame — a free kit that competes on density. As we'll see, August was a month where cool, hard-edged tastes climbed the ranks, and this free tactical gear is one of its symbols.

#6: music player halo / 虎の子

A halo floating overhead, recast directly as a music-player UI. #6 (3,494 likes), ¥500–¥600. The ring is the progress bar, with playback time at each end, a heart on the left, and shuffle / skip / pause / repeat control icons below.

It's not just a glowing ring — what's fun is that a whole scene of "music is playing right now" rises above your head. Emission is set up, so in dark worlds the player UI glows softly. Setup is just dragging the prefab onto the avatar's Head. Made in Blender, this single idea is a fitting symbol of an August where halos took the type lead — a concept distilled into one overhead piece.

#7: AutumnGift / #kowloonworkshop

A fall-toned tail accessory wrapped with osmanthus blossoms and a ribbon. #7 (3,309 likes), ¥480–¥980. It's finished down to the fine details — the texture of the ribbon's fibers, the glitter shaped like osmanthus petals.

What's interesting is the timing: this was published in early August, yet its motif is osmanthus — an autumn flower. It's a piece that quietly readies an autumn look in the middle of summer, showing the light-footedness of an accessory that moves a step ahead of the season. It comes in 24 color variations, and beyond the wrap-around version for avatars with tails, there's a set bundled with an original tail for avatars without one. It fits 21+ avatars, and support keeps growing after release — Manuka, Sio, Ichigo and more. Modular Avatar required, PhysBone pre-configured.

#8: RE. Fallen Angel Horns / RE

Glossy black twisted horns with cross chains dangling from them — a fallen-angel head piece. #8 (3,192 likes), a free asset. It requires lilToon, and setup is simply placing the prefab on the Head and aligning the position and size. It's freely usable commercially or not, and modding is fine.

RE also put out "RE.Hone Series" in July's accessories — a free set bundling skeletal horns, wings, and a tail — a shop whose signature is free giveaways in a non-human, dark direction.

These fallen-angel horns, too, add impact to the head of a gothic or non-human look with their glossy black and silver crosses. August was a month where free items ran thick in the upper ranks, and within that free bracket, this one held down the dark direction.

#9: Neck accessory 09 / flow4ge

A dog-tag-style necklace with an initial engraved on a marble-patterned plate. The rugged toggle clasp and ball chain sharpen the chest of a street or men's coordinate. #9 (3,100 likes), currently ¥400.

flow4ge, who makes this Neck accessory series, also put out "Bracelet 04" — a leather bracelet with compass and crescent charms — in July's accessories, as a 9,000-follower anniversary piece.

This 09, too, was given away free for a limited time to mark the shop passing 10,000 followers, then switched to regular sale at ¥400 once the giveaway ended. Return a follower milestone with a piece, push it out free to reach wide, then carry it on to a permanent paid version — it practices the release pattern running through August's accessories, in one entry of a numbered series. 12 prefabs, with adjustment shape keys.

#10: Bunny-Ear Bouncy Hat / かぷち~のしょっぷ

A frilled, lace-trimmed bonnet with bunny ears. #10 (2,939 likes), a free asset. It was shared free for a shop follower milestone, from a wish that "I love rabbits, and I want more rabbit avatars."

The black-and-white palette where sweetness and gothic coexist sits right on a ryousangata or jirai-kei look. The bunny ears recolor to your taste just by changing the outer material on the color circle, and fit almost any avatar. The hat itself aligns by shape key after Modular Avatar setup. A free piece shared for the shop's milestone closing out the Top 10 fits an August where free ran thick.

Beyond the ranking, here's what the whole field of 211 accessories published on Booth in August 2025 shows in the data.

Median price is ¥400, even with July (¥400), while median likes rose to 662 from July's 569. What stands out is the free share: 69 of all 211 items (about 33%) were free. That's up further from July's 26% — the highest level in the last several months. In the Top 10, #1, #3, #5, #8, and #10 are free, and #9 carries a free-release history too — a month where the presence of free items showed up directly in the upper ranks.

Supported models: Shinano leads alone, Rurune rises to second

Top 10 Supported Models

Distribution of supported avatar models.

The top of the supported-model tally is Shinano 47 / Rurune 44 / Manuka 43 / Milltina 41 / Sio 32 / Chocolat 29 / Kipfel 28 / Milfy 21 / Shinra 21 / Maricia 20. Shinano leads alone at 47, and Rurune rises to second at 44. That said, accessories attach to small areas, and many are shipped as universal prefabs with position adjustment rather than tied to a specific model — so this tally reads more as "the ranking among works that named a supported model."

As a representative of designs that support many avatars at once, here's one from outside the Top 10.

#OwnPath's "Goth Punk Kitty Long Nail" is a red-and-black long nail set adorned with cat faces (× eyes), paw pads, and crosses. The pointed goth-punk nails let you pick the cat expression from four types, with a touch of poison, and it includes position-fitted data for 26 avatars — Manuka, Airi, Shinano, Milltina and more. Even on something as small as fingertips, works that take support this wide are regulars in the upper ranks. ¥600.

Accessory type: halos take the lead, piercings and ribbons follow

Top 10 Accessory Types

Distribution of accessory and decoration types.

The type tally is halo 26 / piercing 25 / ribbon 22 / earrings 18 / chain 16 / hairpin 15 / hair ornament 15 / nails 14 / tail 11 / wings 11. Halos take the type lead at 26. July ran piercing 32, halo 28; August flips it slightly to halo 26, piercing 25. The picture of small ear and overhead decorations at the center holds, and frequent keywords like glow (47) and physics objects (36) — the "glow and move" elements — sit near the top.

In that halo bracket, the standout as a new entry in an ongoing monthly series is this one.

Re.works' "Astralis Orbit - Leo" is an accessory set from a zodiac series that shapes the twelve constellations one per month. A shared halo-and-ring base combines with that month's constellation motif — August is Leo — and the blue, lantern-like ornament and rings glow softly with animation and particles in the dark. The Cancer version appeared in this report for July, so it's a series that stacks up a new release each month as the zodiac comes full circle. ¥600–¥800.

Taste: Cool takes the sole lead

Top 10 Taste Tags

Which taste/aesthetic tags appeared most in this theme.

The taste tally is Cool 48 / Cute 41 / Girly 34 / Fantastical 33 / Dark 30 / Fantasy 27 / Gothic 24 / Yume-kawaii 23 / Elegant 22 / Simple 20. Cool takes the sole lead at 48, overtaking Cute at 41. In July, Cute led close to a majority at 87, so this is a big swap. August's hairstyle report had Cool in the lead too, so there's a cross-category "cool-leaning end of summer" in the air. Dark (30) and Gothic (24) run thick as well, and the "near-future" keyword climbed to 24.

A standout on that cool, cyber side is this one.

スマイルアクセサリーショップ's "Silver Headset" is a silver headphone-style accessory with an eye-catching wireframe openwork. It comes in 52 colors and hangs under any bone you place it on, at the neck or around the head. Released for a 3,000-follower anniversary, it's a piece that sharpens a cyber-leaning look in one stroke. ¥300.

On the Cute side that gave up the lead, one piece caught the eye with a practical gimmick.

金曜雑貨's "Volume Hairpin" is a hairpin where the loudness of your voice appears as a waveform above your head. Colors swap easily with the included PNG, and beyond the head version there are prefabs for the neck and both hands. From a general store that drops a new item every Friday, it adds a "responds when you speak" trick to a sweet look — a Cute × gimmick piece. ¥300.

Price: 96% under ¥1,000, free is among the biggest buckets

Price Distribution

Price bucket distribution for products in this theme during the period.

The price spread is free 69 / ¥1–499 at 58 / ¥500–999 at 75 / ¥1,000–1,999 at 8 / ¥2,000–2,999 at 1. Free 69, ¥1–499 at 58, and ¥500–999 at 75 — free to one coin makes up 96% of the field (202 / 211). Only 9 items sit at ¥1,000 or more, just 1 at ¥2,000+, and the higher band that July had all but vanished. Free piling up near the size of the ¥500–999 bracket is the shape of August's prices.

In the free band, here's a soothing little piece.

communication error's "Swaying!! Yuruneko" is a laid-back white cat that wobbles atop your head and can be held in hand. It's a free asset that perches a slack-faced mascot on your head and looks great as-is for a photo or an everyday accent. communication error also put out "Kurunyan Halo," a ¥100 halo with a cat on it, in July's accessories — a shop that keeps making small head-perch companions.

August trends from a creator's view

From the Top 10 and August's overall numbers, here are four axes worth noting from an accessory creator's view. I've lined them up against July so the differences show.

Points worth noting for accessory creators:

  1. Free swept the upper ranks, and even #1 went free — August's Top 10 has five free items: #1 TwinkleTulleRibbon, #3 ThreeStarPierce, #5 Tactical Belt, #8 RE. Fallen Angel Horns, and #10 the bunny-ear bonnet, plus #9 Neck accessory 09 carries a free-release history. Above all, the sole #1 is at ¥0 — free accessories reached the very top, ahead of the paid ones. Across the whole field, free is 69 / 211 (about 33%), up further from July's 26% and the highest in recent months. The triggers are often follower or anniversary milestones — Naffunado Day (#1), 10,000 followers (#9), a shop milestone (#10) — giveaways timed to a moment of thanks stacking up in the upper ranks. Because an accessory is light to make, it's easy to give one away free at a milestone to reach for recognition, and that's exactly the shape of August's upper ranks.

  2. Cool took the type and taste lead, and a hard-edged cluster grew — Cool (48) overtook Cute (41) for the taste lead, a big swap from July's Cute-at-87 lead. August's hairstyle report had Cool in the lead too, so it's a cross-category flow. In the Top 10, #5 Tactical Belt (tactical gear) and #9 Neck accessory 09 (dog-tag necklace) — a hard-edged, military / street group — pushed into the upper ranks, and the trend section's Silver Headset (cyber) and the 24 "near-future" keywords point the same way. In a category that tends to skew sweet, Cool, cyber, and military took the upper ranks.

  3. Halos took the type lead, widening from "moving effects" to "practical gimmicks" — Halos (26) edged out July's leader, piercings (25 in August), for the type lead. And August's halos widen toward shaping the overhead ring into a single UI or concept, like #6 music player halo (progress bar + controls). On the gimmick side too, a step past July's "sway and glow" effects, pieces that you wear and operate, that become practical climbed the ranks — #4 Goodnight Eye Mask (night mode + hides name tags when grabbed) and the trend section's Volume Hairpin (your voice as a waveform overhead). Adding one function to a decoration is August's differentiator.

  4. One piece reaching ahead to autumn, and support that keeps growing after release — #7 AutumnGift is an early-August release with an osmanthus (autumn) motif, a move to ready an autumn look while it's still summer. With a short production lead time, accessories are good at hitting a season a step early. Alongside that, works like #2 StarChain (27 avatars, Full price held even as it grows) and #7 AutumnGift (support added after release — Manuka, Sio, Ichigo and more) make a habit of adding supported avatars even after the sale. With small attach areas like ears and tails, accessories get shipped wide as universal prefabs with adjustment keys, then keep adding support each time a popular avatar appears — that long-lived way of growing a piece is part of what gives the upper ranks their staying power.

Wrap-up

August 2025's accessories were a month where free swept the upper ranks, with even the sole top spot finally going to ¥0. Half the Top 10 were free, and at the very top sat a tulle ribbon shared as a "Naffunado Day" thank-you. Give one away free and wide to reach for recognition, timed to an anniversary or follower milestone — that light-footed way of releasing, fitting for an accessory that's light to make, is exactly what the upper ranks looked like.

At the same time, Cool overtook the sweet side for the taste lead, and a hard-edged group like #5 the tactical belt and #9 the dog-tag necklace pushed into the upper ranks. Halos took the type lead, with pieces that stack a concept onto the overhead ring — a music-player UI, a zodiac series — standing out. Return a milestone's thanks with a free piece, then keep adding support as popular avatars appear to sell it for the long run — that handwork of creators building one piece at a time is what showed in the breadth of August's Top 10.
