[April 2026] VRChat Avatar Trend Report on Booth

A data-driven look back at the VRChat avatars published on Booth in April 2026 — the ten that picked up the most likes, with taste, body-build, and ecosystem trends pulled from the full release pool. April built a thick layer of mysterious / dark / gothic tastes right behind "cute," and bunny-eared characters and mascots stood out too. The silver-haired, red-eyed gothic-Lolita Casaris took the solo #1 slot, and behind it sat a lineup that scattered across tastes and body builds — a bunny-eared ballet girl, a white-haired fox girl, a dog-eared maid, a bunny mascot, and a demon boy.

📊 About the data Snapshot date: 2026-05-26 / Scope: 42 avatars with 300+ likes published between 2026-04-01 and 2026-04-30

The 10 avatars that stood out

Ranked by like count as of May 2026. For each entry I pull notes from the creator's product page to highlight details beyond what the summary card already shows.

#1: Casaris / 半熟りんご

Long silver-white hair, red eyes, and a butterfly motif — a gothic-Lolita avatar built on the concept of "the maiden of the Forêt-Noire (black forest)." At ¥5,000 it took the solo #1 spot among April avatars (9,354 likes as of the snapshot).

The default outfit is textbook gothic Lolita: a black off-shoulder tiered-frill dress + a black lace headdress + black butterfly hairpins + a large black bow at the back + black tights + black Mary-Jane shoes. The butterfly motif runs consistently through the whole worldview — from the hair accessories to the hem of the dress to the AFK pose where one perches on her hand — which lines up neatly with its quiet, serene atmosphere.

The spec depth is substantial too: 520 face shape keys (+18 for VRC) + 92 body + 38 hair + 21 for MMD + 41 for facial tracking, giving a wide expression range. The polygon count is 149,750 (Performance Rank: Very Poor), download size 15.39MB, with both forward and reverse Mochifitter profiles, plus full-body tracking, VRCFaceTracking, lip sync, and eye tracking. It even bundles a pet gimmick that calls a black butterfly to your palm, carrying the worldview into AFK framing. The build was led by avatar creator Ruarinringo, with the product art, PV, and music each handled by separate collaborators.

#2: Fyuett / HARUNOPUPU

Pink twin-tails, blue eyes, bunny ears, and ballet attire — a girly, romantic avatar. A new release from HARUNOPUPU, the creator behind the popular Shiratsume avatar, and it shares a base body with Shiratsume. ¥5,000, landing at #2.

A white frilled collar, a light-blue ribbon tie, and pointe shoes give it a clean, sweet ballet-rooted default look. What stands out is the customization range: 7 colorways covering hair, eyes, and even skin tone + 3 bangs styles (Candy / Biscuit / Macaron) + a chignon option + bunny-ear reshaping, including a tan-skin colorway. The BlendShapes are generous too at 1,035 for the face (MMD / perfect sync included) + 118 for the body.

The ecosystem side is thorough: alongside the dressed and dress-up prefabs, it ships a FaceEmo break-prevention prefab for the FaceEmo expression tool and a controller for AvatarPoseSystem out of the box. It runs on the current lilToon + Modular Avatar + PhysBone setup, with character design, modeling, and technical support each split across different hands. The fitting world lets you try all 7 colorways alongside #5 "Mumupuri," covered below.

#3: Natsume / StudioSelyn

Long platinum-white hair, red eyes, and fox ears with a fox tail — a Japanese-style, mysterious, mature-leaning avatar. The white fox ears and fluffy fox tail sit naturally against the platinum hair and red eyes, leaning the whole look further into a Japanese aesthetic.

The default outfit is a black Japanese-style mini-dress: a red bustier-like bib + a black draped long-sleeve overlayer + gold-trimmed hems + a tasseled waist ornament + black thigh-highs. The black × red × gold palette and the fox ears pull the Japanese worldview together.

Spec-wise it runs 118,165 polygons with 522 face shape keys (46 MMD-compatible) + 89 body, and ships blend / PSD / PNG / FBX / unitypackage files together. It supports forward Mochifitter conversion, with the reverse profile said to be released separately at EkaSilicon's shop.

#4: Utona / TATUO LAB

Brown bob hair, teal eyes, and drooping animal ears on a maid — with bone-shaped hairpins, paw pads, and paw-print motifs scattered around, it reads less like a cat and more of a "puppy-style" dog-eared maid. ¥5,500.

The default outfit pairs a blue-and-white maid dress + a large pink ribbon tie + black garter thigh-highs + white leg warmers + sneakers + a brown tail. The product images show it with the outer jacket zipped closed versus open, so you can shift the look depending on whether you layer it.

Spec-wise it's 144,728 polygons (body 31,641), with 8 materials and 22 textures, carrying shape keys for expressions, bust size, partial body hiding, and bangs adjustment. It runs on lilToon 2.3.2 + VRChat SDK 3.10.3 or later, with a forward Mochifitter profile and full-body tracking support.

#5: Mumupuri / HARUNOPUPU

A plump bunny-shaped mascot avatar. A pale-pink body + a blue ribbon between the ears + a daisy collar ruff + large black eyes make for a yume-kawaii, heartwarming little one. It's by the same HARUNOPUPU behind #2 "Fyuett," positioned on the product page as "Fyuett's friend," and the two live together in the same fitting world. The ¥700 price made it easy to pick up.

What stands out is how light it is: the polygon count is body ▼5,316 + flower ▼1,700 + ribbon ▼698 + clothing ▼4,728 for a total in the 12,000s — by far the lightest in the top 10. With 4 meshes and 7 prefabs, it comes pre-set with seven hover-movement animations plus breathing and lip-sync-cancel motions. A flagship avatar (Fyuett) and a cheap, light mascot to set beside it — that pairing was HARUNOPUPU's highlight for the month.

#6: Honoyura / seafoods

Large teal bunny ears, hair fading from silver to purple, and blue-violet eyes — a fantastical avatar. Its biggest feature is a design that switches between a quietly shimmering "Glow" form and a mischievous "Shadow" form, and it even includes a shrunk-down chibi, "Mini-yura."

Glow is a cream-colored elegant long dress (with a side slit), Shadow is a dark purple-black dress — two clearly split sides in look and mood. It bundles five prefabs to pick from based on use (a full package with everything / a lightened simple version / modification-use Glow and Shadow versions / a Mini-yura avatar version), along with accessories like wings, a kiseru pipe, and a finger clock.

Spec-wise the full build is heavy (312,668 polygons, 1,032 shape keys, 24 particle systems — Very Poor), but by providing a lighter simple version and modification prefabs separately, you can choose between the heavy base build and a lighter setup — that's the design philosophy here. It works on the current lilToon + Modular Avatar + VRChat SDK environment and is listed on PolygonLoading.

#7: Lunary / mellow pink

Silver short hair, pink eyes, and a black cat-ear beanie — a little-devil yume-kawaii avatar. Headphones, paw-pad mittens, a white cat tail, and a bandage on the cheek round out a look that mixes yume-kawaii with a touch of jirai-kei.

The default outfit pairs the black cat-ear beanie + white-and-black striped arm covers + a black camisole top + a pink-and-black tiered-frill miniskirt + a garter + black thigh-highs + platform boots, all built around pink and black.

Spec-wise the default (all variations included) is 235,748 polygons, with a 96,174-polygon dress-up version as a second tier. The shape keys total 1,232 (996 for expressions + 85 body + 104 other + 47 MMD-compatible) — quite generous — with a base body included, lilToon, and full-tracking support. It was split between two people (design / modeling / texture, and modeling / setup), and the Mochifitter profile is released separately by EkaSilicon. Note that Lunary's product page went up on April 29, with the actual sale starting about a month later on May 22 — since this report is based on product-page publish dates it's counted under April, but this is a case of a long lead-in before sales opened.

#8: Euphorika / Mispin

Silver-white short hair, braids, blue-violet eyes, a pink halo, and small white wings — an angelic, modest avatar. White frills combined with a harness give it a fantastical, soft atmosphere.

Spec-wise it's 215,203 polygons, with 860+ total shape keys + body adjustment + MMD, and supports lip sync, eye tracking, and full-body tracking. PhysBones are set on the chest, hips, thighs, and stomach, so the jiggle physics are worked in too. The shader is compatible with both lilToon and Poiyomi, so you can choose based on preference or environment. It was built on the current Blender 5.0.1 + VRChat SDK Avatar 3.10.3 environment.

#9: Mie / kai 9

Long khaki-tinted dark-green hair, golden eyes, and wolf ears with a wolf tail — a big-sister-style, mature avatar. A black oversized uniform-style jacket + a grey knit vest + a necktie + black shorts + off-white leg warmers + black loafers make for a crisp uniform with a lived-in, relaxed finish.

What catches the eye on the technical side is the face support: it bundles ARKit shape keys usable for facial tracking in VRChat (they aren't configured in the default prefab, so you set them up yourself using the VRCFaceTracking template the distributor points to). It's around 143,000 polygons, with 23 material slots and 21 skinned meshes, plus body clipping-prevention and body-shape shape keys and a forward Mochifitter profile.

#10: Danzai / #SASIKIZU

Silver hair, blue eyes, and twin halos — a demon-motif avatar. The product image labels it directly as a male avatar with "GENDER: MALE / PROFILE: DEMON," making it the only avatar in April's top 10 clearly presented as male. A neutral, boyish face is paired with a black-and-blue gothic-meets-cyber outfit.

On the worldview, the product page positions it as "not a remake of the old work, but a reboot that inherits its world" — a notable framing. Spec-wise it's 167,884 polygons, with 15 shape keys for lip sync and eye tracking + 800+ others, a 15.37MB download, Mochifitter support, lilToon, and PhysBones pre-configured.

On the gimmick side, the interesting part is that it ships a "PV-version prefab" separately from the standard one. This has the halo animation used in the promo PV pre-set, with different emission settings from the standard version, so you can use whichever fits your shots or environment.

Rather than the ranking, here's what the full pool of 42 avatars published in April shows, read through the data.

MetricValue
Avatars in scope42
Average likes1,275.1
Median likes744
Average price¥3,470
Median price¥4,500

The median is 744 likes, the average 1,275. Compared with March (median 966, 27 avatars), the median dipped a bit as the count grew to 42, while the median price of ¥4,500 held flat from March. The count jumped to 1.5× the previous month, and within that, dark/mysterious tastes, animal-eared characters, and mascot builds widened the base — that's the shape of April.

Tastes: "cute" on top, with a thick dark / mysterious layer

Top 10 Taste Tags

Which taste/aesthetic tags appeared most in this theme.

"Cute" leads at 17. Then mysterious 12 / dark 10 / girly 8 / fantasy 8 / yume-kawaii 7 / elegant 6 / cool 6 / gothic 6. March had girly and mysterious tied at #1, but April saw "cute" reclaim the top spot while mysterious + dark + gothic built a thick "dark / mysterious" layer together. The top 10 itself lined up several dark entries — #1 Casaris (gothic Lolita), #6 Honoyura (Glow and Shadow), #10 Danzai (demon).

As a symbol of the dark × non-human direction, a gas-masked aberrant avatar — conceived as "remains awakened by a collapsed protocol" — was also published.

On the cute axis, there was also a sleepy-mood avatar themed on the "slumber tribe," wearing a pillow-motif headdress with cat ears and a fluffy tail.

Appearance: long hair on top, silver/white hair and animal ears stand out

Top 10 Appearance Traits

Distribution of appearance traits — hair, ears, eyes, etc.

Long hair leads at 15, followed by silver hair 10 / tail 9 / white hair 9 / black hair 9 / blue eyes 8 / short hair 7 / cat ears 7 / bunny ears 6. Silver and white hair both landing high is an April hallmark — in the top 10, Casaris, Natsume, Honoyura, Euphorika, and Danzai all carried silver/white hair. With tails at 9 + cat ears at 7 + bunny ears at 6, the animal-ear layer stayed thick too.

As a representative of animal ears × long hair, a fox-eared, modest sailor-uniform avatar — choosable in white × brown or black × blue colorways — was in the lineup.

Body build: standard at about two-thirds, with seven mascots

Top 10 Body Types

Distribution of body type and silhouette tags.

The body-build split is standard at 28 (about 67%) / mascot 7 / chibi 6 / petite 1. Standard holding about two-thirds isn't far off March (about 60%), but what stands out is that mascots numbered seven. Led by #5 Mumupuri (a bunny type) in the top 10, low-poly, low-price mascot and chibi builds are thickening up as an alternative to standard proportions.

On the mascot axis, there was even a novelty avatar of a hot-dog car carrying sausages, running on cucumber wheels, at ¥500.

Outfit types: dresses alone at #1

Top 10 Outfit Types

Outfit types bundled with these products.

For outfit types, dresses lead alone at 4, followed by shirt / shorts / jacket / frill / maid outfit tied at three each. Casaris's gothic-Lolita dress at #1, Fyuett's ballet outfit at #2, and Honoyura's Glow/Shadow dresses at #6 — dresses landing several spots in the top 10 runs continuous with the "thick dark / fantastical layer" in the taste data.

On the shirt axis, a femboy-leaning cat-eared boy avatar — switching between angel and demon via blonde × blue eyes and black hair × pink eyes — was also published.

Pricing: ¥5,000+ at about 40%, ¥3,000–4,999 at ten

Price Distribution

Price bucket distribution for products in this theme during the period.

The price split is free 2 / ¥1–499 at 3 / ¥500–999 at 4 / ¥1,000–1,999 at 3 / ¥2,000–2,999 at 2 / ¥3,000–4,999 at 10 / ¥5,000+ at 18. ¥5,000+ at about 43% (18/42) is roughly flat against March's 44%, with the ¥3,000–4,999 band of ten supporting beneath it. The top 10 centers on the ¥5,000–6,000 standard band, within which #5 Mumupuri (¥700) carried the easy-entry slot.

In the ¥3,000s, there was also a modest, everyday real-clothes avatar with long black hair and a beret that blends into daily scenes.

Through a creator's lens: April's trends

From the top 10 and the full April pool, here are about four points worth noting from an avatar creator's perspective. I've lined up three months so the deltas against the February and March reports are visible.

Top 10 highest price¥6,000¥7,000~¥6,000
Standard-build share~70%~60%~67% (28/42)

Notes for avatar creators:

  1. Mascots grew, widening the body-build spread further — standard build held roughly two-thirds (Feb 70% → Mar 60% → Apr ~67%), but of the other 14 builds, mascots were the largest group at seven. Like #5 Mumupuri (a bunny type), low-poly, low-price mascots and chibi are showing up in the top tier in steady numbers, so the trend of being able to reach the top with builds beyond standard proportions continues.

  2. Expression shape-key depth has become standard equipment for top avatars — nearly every top-10 entry carried 500–1,200+ face shape keys + MMD support + facial tracking / ARKit support (Casaris 520+ / Fyuett 1,035 / Lunary 1,232 / Honoyura 1,032 / Danzai 800+ / Euphorika 860+). Expression range and face-tracking support are now lined up as a baseline expectation for flagship avatars aiming for the top.

  3. Lateral expansion of a character's world, and split compatibility ecosystems — #2 Fyuett and #5 Mumupuri are HARUNOPUPU running a flagship avatar alongside a ¥700 companion mascot that lives in the same world. Fyuett itself shares a base body with Shiratsume. On top of that, the reverse Mochifitter conversion / profiles for Natsume and Lunary are released separately by EkaSilicon — a move from "selling one character standalone" toward "expanding it as a character family / splitting compatibility data with other creators."

  4. A thick gothic / dark layer, plus the continued presence of male, femboy, and non-human avatars — the taste data ran thick with mysterious 12 / dark 10 / gothic 6, and the top 10 leaned dark with #1 Casaris (gothic Lolita), #6 Honoyura (its Shadow form), and #10 Danzai (male / demon). Outside the top 10 there was a black-suited male avatar, a femboy-leaning boy switching between angel and demon, and a gas-masked non-human. Following March's mature male avatar "Shidou," male, femboy, and non-human avatars keep landing in the top tier in steady numbers each month — and April continued that.

Wrap-up

April 2026's new avatars left an impression of "the silver-haired, red-eyed gothic Lolita Casaris taking the solo #1, with a bunny-eared ballet girl, a white-haired fox girl, a dog-eared maid, a bunny mascot, and a demon boy lined up behind it — a lineup scattered across both taste and body build." "Cute" reclaimed the top of the taste data, but mysterious / dark / gothic built a thick dark / mysterious layer together, and silver/white hair and animal ears stood out in appearance.

Through a creator's lens, 500–1,200+ face shape keys and facial-tracking support became standard equipment for top avatars, and it was a month that showed the lateral expansion of a character's world — like HARUNOPUPU's "Fyuett + companion mascot Mumupuri" — and an ecosystem where Mochifitter support is split off to other creators. In body-build terms, standard proportions held about two-thirds while mascots grew to seven. The thick gothic / dark layer, and the way male, femboy, and non-human avatars keep reaching the top tier each month, were also clearly recorded in April as a continuation of the trend from March.
